Monmouthshire County Council’s Planning Committee resolved on 1st May 2018 to approve two developments for Monmouthshire Housing Association, at Elm Road, Caldicot and St Teilo’s Road, Abergavenny.
Both schemes are formed by redundant and dilapidated former garage sites located within established residential areas. Working in collaboration with Professor Wayne Forster of the Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University, the projects, which are supported by Welsh Government’s Innovative Housing Programme, will deliver a total of eight new affordable innovative (low energy and high performance) homes.
The accommodation has been specifically designed to be ‘loose fit’, offering smaller sized and adaptable accommodation aimed to meet an identified need within the community – ‘first-rungers’ and ‘downsizers’.
Lee Roberts and Jeremy Baker were LRM’s clients at Monmouthshire Housing Association. Employer’s agent for the projects is Alex McCusker of AECOM; Derek Lincoln of Lodestone is the appointed project engineer; Integral Geotechnique carried out site investigation works; and Paul Watkins of Construction Safety Planning Ltd is CDM coordinator.
LRM Planning are once again extremely grateful to Monmouthshire County Council for their hard work in determining the two applications well within the statutory timescales.
