The scheme, which LRM Planning successfully negotiated to approval, has won a Housing Design Award.
It was welcome news for LRM to learn that Moorland Road Community Centre was a recent recipient of a 2023 Housing Design Award. LRM managed the planning application to approval at Planning Committee earlier this year. The scheme, which LRM worked on for Cardiff Council’s Housing Development Team, was designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris. The development team also comprised Tir Collective, Lime Transport , DRAC Consulting, Grays Consulting Engineers Ltd, Strongs Partnership, Wardell Armstrong, Pure Ecology Ltd and Treescene.
Celebrating 75 years since their inception, the Housing Design Awards were launched in 1948 at the same Parliament sitting as the founding of the NHS. Their initial purpose was to reward better municipal post-war rebuilding, and thereafter were opened to market sale homes. The Housing Design Awards are the only awards promoted by all 5 major professional institutions – RICS, RIBA, RTPI, Landscape Institute and Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.
This award is testament to the endeavour and hard work of the dedicated team in seeking to create better places to live and socialise for the people and communities of Cardiff.
