The Planning Applications (Temporary Modifications and Disapplication) (Wales) (Coronavirus) Order 2020 will come into play from midnight on 19th May 2020.
This will allows Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) to continue with relaxed requirements under lockdown conditions. Excellent news to allow PAC to commence on schemes that had otherwise stalled in the pre-submission process, and indeed LRM hopes to imminently commence PAC on a number of projects that were held in abeyance as a result.
However, any PACs undertaken since lockdown began are now adjudged to be invalid. Having started PAC on a couple of schemes lawfully before lockdown, and made every effort to ensure efficient and where possible, extended engagement with local communities, it is frustrating to know that it will all have been in vain.
As understandable as it is that Welsh Government needs to do all it can to ensure best possible consultation takes place, it is disheartening that it has taken until now to release the legislation, when we and some of our clients could have saved weeks in our application process.
Nonetheless, we aim to capitalise on this opportunity to keep the wheels moving on our applications, and the team is geared up to continue to provide the best possible service for all our clients in Wales.
