Working on behalf of Hallam Land Management Limited, we have secured outline planning permission for the construction of 80 new homes and a 60 bed care home at Hamstreet in Kent.
The Site is allocated for development in the adopted Ashford Borough Local Plan and the planning application was submitted in 2018 to coincide with Local Plan examination. The scheme was first considered at planning committee in July 2019 but was deferred for further consideration of access and layout. At the reconvened Committee in December, Members resolved to grant outline permission subject to a Section 106 Agreement.
In addition to the housing, the scheme provides a number of public benefits which have come from joint working over several years with Hamstreet Primary School which adjoins the Site:
- the provision of a new staff car park
- a new pick up-drop off facility for parents that will alleviate existing on-street parking
- a new playing field and shelter for use by the School during term time and the wider community outside of this
- an outdoor classroom and learning space for use by the School.
This represents the culmination of a number years joint working between Hallam, the School, the County Council, local community representatives and Ashford Borough Council.
LRM were instructed in 2017 and were responsible for preparing and managing the outline application and representations to the Local Plan and attendance at the Examination.
