LRM Planning secure Reserved Matters approval for 130 homes in Henstridge, South Somerset
Earlier this year, LRM Planning were pleased to have secured Reserved Matters approval for Barratt David Wilson on their site at Stalbridge Road, Henstridge, for 130 homes along with open space including play areas, sustainable drainage and other site infrastructure.
The team that consisted of; Roberts Limbrick on design; Phoenix on engineering; FPCR on Landscaping; Green Ecology on ecology and arboriculture; and Environmental Economics on sustainability, worked hard to tight timescales to ensure the application was submitted and validated in October 2021 ahead of the expiry of the outline planning permission. The application determination itself was also not without its challenges as in order to deliver the scheme, large areas of drainage attenuation were required as well as additional hedgerow removal, which needed to be balanced against open space, landscaping, ecology and general design aspirations. Furthermore, political pressure sought for additional parking spaces to be added to the scheme.
Working closely with the Council and key stakeholders we were able to deliver a scheme to the satisfaction of officers and members and the application was approved at committee in April, with a decision notice issued in May 2022. LRM Planning are continuing to work with Barratt David Wilson to discharge conditions to enable them to begin works on the site. Once completed the scheme will add 130 much needed homes to the local area including 46 affordable dwellings (35%), with a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom homes.
