Cardiff Council Planning Committee resolved to grant consent subject to a legal agreement on 26th February for a scheme of 41 care-ready flats, with LRM Planning acting as agents to Cardiff Council’s Housing Development Team.
The proposal, at the former police station at Maelfa, Llanedeyrn, is one of the final pieces in the jigsaw of wider regeneration scheme in the immediate surroundings.
Measuring partly five- and partly six-storeys in height, the design, by Austin-Smith:Lord Architects, includes communal spaces and modern, accessible apartments, with a striking contemporary design that addresses the corner at Round Wood and Llanedeyrn Drive, in the place of a redundant brownfield site.
Detailed landscaping, designed with the end users in mind, was provided by White Young Green. The sustainable drainage scheme was intertwined with the landscaping proposals, and designed by Cambria. The scheme is in the process of achieving SAB consent from the Council. Drac Consulting are providing Mechanical & Electrical engineering input.
LRM produced a supporting Planning Statement, PAC Report, and was involved in a voluntary public exhibition prior to the submission of the application.
The application received unanimous support at Committee, We are grateful to Planning Officers and other consultees within the Council for their timely and measured consideration of the application.
